Sionnachs , Fias and MPCs (Mountain Pursuit Challenges) are hillwalking and backpacking weekends for scouts. These are lightweight wild camping weekends for scouts between 12 and 15.5 years of age, but for MPCs minimum age is 13.5yrs. 4 events of each are held every year, one in each of the provinces. The teams consist of 4 scouts and 1 leader who remains with the scouts for the full weekend.
MPC and Sionnachs are HARD and TOUGH. Therefore, to participate, all scouts and scouters in the patrol must have completed several overnight lightweight hillwalking expeditions, hikes and trips leading up to the event and ensure that they are physically fit and capable of completing the route.
