{"id":589,"date":"2023-12-24T10:18:53","date_gmt":"2023-12-24T10:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dsfscouts.ie\/?p=589"},"modified":"2023-12-24T10:18:53","modified_gmt":"2023-12-24T10:18:53","slug":"cub-killarney-trip-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.apeoconsulting.com\/index.php\/2023\/12\/24\/cub-killarney-trip-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Cub Killarney trip February 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Destination:<\/strong>\u00a0Muckross Youth Venture Centre (a converted church)<br><strong>Accommodation:<\/strong> indoors (dorm and a number of bedrooms)<br><strong>Meet:<\/strong>\u00a0February 2, 6.15 pm, Cork Kent Station<br><strong>Return:<\/strong>\u00a0February 4, 2 pm, Scout hall (or nearby location, will advise on the day)<br><strong>Cost:<\/strong>\u00a0\u20ac75 + transaction fee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ll spend two nights in Muckross Youth Venture Centre and explore Killarney National Park on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bag drop:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Thursday<\/strong>, February 1, at 8 pm, scout hall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring their backpacks to the scout hall on&nbsp;<strong>Thursday<\/strong>&nbsp;so they don\u2019t have to bring them on the train and (more importantly!) don\u2019t have to carry to\/from Killarney train station. Please make sure there\u2019s a label or something your cub will recognise on the bag. We have 2 leaders who will bring the bags by car to Killarney and back.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Friday:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We meet at Kent train station on Friday at&nbsp;<strong>18:15<\/strong>&nbsp;as we\u2019ll be getting the 18:55 train to Mallow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure your cub had his\/her dinner before coming to the train station<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test.apeoconsulting.com\/uniform\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"100\">Full uniform<\/a><\/strong>, dark trousers\/leggings instead of uniform trousers are okay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comfortable shoes for walking\/outdoor activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring small bag (see below)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After arrival in Killarney we will walk to the Youth Centre (approx 4km)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sunday:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ETA 2pm Scout hall (or nearby location, will advise on the day)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gear for big backpack (or other suitable bag):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Line bag with refuse bag, just in case they might get exposed to the elements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attach label with your child\u2019s name to backpack<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sleeping bag<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unbreakable cup, bowl, plate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knife, fork and spoon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two complete changes of clothes (weather permitting we will be largely outside!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Warm<\/strong> PJs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Towel and personal wash gear<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Small bag for train:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>water bottle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>snack (nothing containing nuts please!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rain gear (trousers and jacket)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hat and gloves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>high-viz vest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/test.apeoconsulting.com\/headlights-torches\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"236\">torch\/headlight<\/a> plus spare batteries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No fizzy drinks please and only tiny amounts of sweets<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>optional: card game<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Electronic Device Policy:<\/strong>&nbsp;It is advised that scouts&nbsp;<strong>do not bring electronic devices<\/strong>.
