Kerry<br><strong>Date:<\/strong>\u00a0Saturday, October 18<br><strong>Start:<\/strong>\u00a0Meet at <strong>8.30 am<\/strong> at <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/Bxw7yddcvV9gBVKV8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Frankfield RC Church<\/a>, busses will leave at <strong>8.45am sharp<\/strong><br><strong>Finish<\/strong>: Around 4 pm at <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/Bxw7yddcvV9gBVKV8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Frankfield RC Church<\/a><s><br><\/s><strong>Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>\u20ac20\/child (payment via <a href=\"https:\/\/platform.payzone.ie\/customer\/11394\/product-list\/details\/58296\">Payzone<\/a> &#8211; payments no longer accepted, booking is closed)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Route:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><s>Starting from Kate Kearney&#8217;s Cottage we will make our way up Strickeen<\/s><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><s>About 7km, with roughly 380m altitude gain<\/s><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On tracks and open ground.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><s>Route can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/hiiker.app\/maps\/planned-trails\/cub-county-hike-2025-strickeen--1767289473\">here.<\/a><\/s><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure your child had a good breakfast<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We will do a quick gear check before leaving the car park \u2013 please don\u2019t leave before this is done!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We expect to be back at Frankfield RC Church at around 4pm, updates via WhatsApp<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hike Gear List<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Neckerchief<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/dsfscouts.ie\/hiking-boots\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"315\">Hiking boots<\/a> (not wellies!) \u2013 we will encounter wet terrain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trousers suitable for hiking &#8211; no jeans or cotton tracksuits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rain gear (jacket with hood &amp; trousers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Warm clothes \u2013 multi light layers are best.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water \u2013 minimum of 1 ltr<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hat &amp; Gloves \u2013 it will likely be cold (forecast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mountain-forecast.com\/peaks\/Torc-Mountain\/forecasts\/535\">here<\/a>)!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/dsfscouts.ie\/headlights-torches\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"236\">Headlight<\/a> &amp; spare batteries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Healthy packed lunch (<strong>no nuts please<\/strong> &#8211; we have children with severe nut allergies in the group)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sun cream (we are optimists!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a separate small bag: Change of shoes and socks + warm hoody for after hike \u2013 will be left on bus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Optional, if your beaver\/cub has these\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1st aid kit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whistle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compass<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Electronic Device Policy:<\/strong>&nbsp;It is advised that scouts&nbsp;<strong>do not bring electronic devices<\/strong>, Douglas &amp; St Fin Barre&#8217;s Scout Group, its leaders and Scouting Ireland&nbsp;<strong>will not be held responsible<\/strong>&nbsp;for any electronic devices lost or damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Destination: Torc, Co.
